Welcome to the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) Small District Technology Leadership wiki. The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) is the country's premier voice for K-12 education leaders who use technology strategically to improve teaching and learning. The objective of this wiki is to provide a space for collaborative work around topics regarding effective planning for and use and implementation of technology. There are a variety of sources on this wiki. CoSN, in conjunction with a grant from SRI International and support from the National Technology Activities contract with the U.S. Department of Education, has created the Small District Technology Leadership wiki to support systematic planning at the local level for district- and school-based technologies. The objective of this project is to develop a set of resources that fits the needs of small school districts, those with student populations of 2,500 or less. The content may prove useful for any district but is particularly focused on the specific needs and challenges of small school districts.

Inside many schools across the country, MySpace.com is a dirty word. But does that have to be the case for all social networking Web sites? Many administrators have chosen to block access to MySpace, the Internet’s most popular social networking site, judging its content to be inappropriate for schools. Now, as more social networking tools like blogs and wikis are developed for classroom use, technology directors face a difficult dilemma: how to balance the educational benefits of these new tools with concerns about student privacy and safety.

We are currently working on Version 0.06 which will include the hostname change module for Vista, the host registration module for XP and Vista. We are also including a host import feature where the user can import a csv file of hosts directly into FOG. It will also include the fix for the boot image, where during an image is upload the drive is not correctly resized back to normal.

Great advice for negotiating district-wide contracts as a director of technology or school CIO.
