First time ever that a president-elect will use an online vehicle to deliver
his weekly message
A new movement known as “software virtualization,” allows
applications to be delivered from a central server, without having to be
installed at the end-user level. This is saving districts countless dollars
in IT, soft and hardware related expenses.
The YEAR UP program equips urban youth in Boston, Providence,
Washington, New York City, and San Francisco with 21st century skills
by providing six months of IT, business, and communications
coursework, followed by a six-month corporate apprenticeship. the
students earn college credit plus f $150 to $225 per week
Beginning next fall, a new law will make is possible for every K-8 student to enroll in an online school. Enrolled students receive free computers and online service. State to pay $6000/pupil and thousands are expected to take advantage of this. Students must have enrolled in a public school first before switching to a virtual school.
