    Beginning next fall, a new law will make is possible for every K-8 student to enroll in an online school. Enrolled students receive free computers and online service. State to pay $6000/pupil and thousands are expected to take advantage of this. Students must have enrolled in a public school first before switching to a virtual school.

    The proliferation of online virtual charter schools has lawmakers, schools and parents at odd over taxpayer costs, loss of students in schools and questions over parents ability to "teach" their children at home.
