1voteTim O'Reilly's proposal for a code of conduct won't fly. Unfortunately, you can't just pass a bunch of rules to make incivility go away. Someone who has been getting his way since he was 2 and has grown up into a self-involved, bombastic narcissist isn't going to have a come-to-Jesus moment just because he's offended somebody's sense of etiquette.

Flashing your booty or treating yourself to an orgasm is hardly a sign that you are incapable of doing your job well, nor does it grant permission for others to dismiss your professional competence or authority.

1voteThe popular online hangout MySpace has blocked parts of Photobucket, complaining that the Web hosting service has been encouraging users to incorporate an ad-supported slideshow into their MySpace personal profile pages. Photobucket CEO Alex Welch accused MySpace of limiting free expression & treating users as a commodity. MySpace's complaint is over a slideshow promoting the Spider-Man movie.

2voteAs kids today plagiarize more & more from the Internet...It's time for schools & educators to recognize the truth: The term paper is dead. The problem isn't due to a dramatic decline in young people's moral character, nor the rise of the Internet & its endless bounty. The problem is that schools have relied too long & too heavily on the paper as the most significant method of evaluating students.

One part of the clip juxtaposes pictures of feet over the king's image, a major cultural taboo for Thais since feet are considered extremely dirty & offensive.This relates to Howard's discussion in 5 Minds of the challenges of respect in a global age.
