Interesting website with newspaper articles and letters about the American Civil War (Both Confederate and Union newspapers, abolitionist papers, even personal diaries and letters). There are images of the actual newspaper pages and then the site actually has re-written each article's text for actual use. Not the easiest to navigate, but once you get the hang of it, the resources are pure gold.

The Civil War film "Glory" tells the powerful story of the all-black Massachusetts 54th Regiment and their leader, Robert Gould Shaw. The story will appeal to students because of the vivid characterizations and the focus on unsung heroes. It also gives a memorable visual representation of the uniforms, weapons, and battlefield conditions of the Civil War.
