BYU mechanical engineering students demonstrate their merry-go-round generator. The merry-go-round playground equipment, which will be used in Ghana, has two purposes: a play toy for children and a power generator that will provide electricity for remote schoolhouses throughout the country. They have found a way to harness the energy of youth. Six students from BYU's engineering department unveiled Tuesday a playground merry-go-round that generates electricity as it spins. The goal is to provide an inexpensive, simple power source for remote school houses in developing nations.
