    At the Brearley School, a private school for girls on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where Samantha is in the eighth grade, the iPod went from a "want" to a "must have" this year when its use was incorporated into foreign-language and classics courses. For about 300 girls in grades 7 through 12, the iPod is now required to do homework and classroom assignments.

    Lauer Learning creates innovative multimedia products to teach kids about foreign languages, cultures and historic events. We must make education engaging so that kids yearn to learn... at all levels and at all ages. After all, we can't teach them if we can't reach them.

    Learning Spanish is easy and fun with Discover Spanish, an interactive website featuring animated cartoon characters that walks learners through the three steps of each lesson: explore, learn, and practice. The beginner course is free and covers one year of high school Spanish instruction.

    This website is sponsored by the National Endowment of the Arts, and has a little bit of everything, including stuff on foreign language. The "Art and Culture" section is amazing, and the lesson plans range from American history to the Greek alphabet!

    When you start typing, the words should be automatically translated into the language of your choice and appear in the bluish box. I don't know how well it works because I'm "monolingual," but it's a neat concept. It's obvious error must be that your translations are quite literal...
